ARTIST STATEMENT

Before this series I was only photographing urbanscapes in B&W because I thought it was the only way I could accentuate the values and shapes in my images. Then as my attraction grew for the stark shadows in my work I realized it was the light and time of day I was really obsessed with not the lack of color.

In this series I brought my images to life with color and shot between the hours of 9am and 12pm to exaggerate the tonal spectrum of the images. This time of day gave me the ability to capture the intensity of color while documenting the geometric forms naturally found in the urbanscape.
