Recently I moved to New Bedford, MA . The south side, where I lived, has one of the highest population densities I have ever experienced. What brought to me this chaotic realization was all of the intertwined wires and celestial satellites hanging on and around the stacked homes. Two to three family homes lay stacked shoulder to shoulder, back to back. Kids of the area make yards out of sidewalks and playgrounds out of the streets.
To document the high population density of the New Bedford south side I visually referenced the claustrophobic with intentionally tight framing. Creating as many simplistic urbanscapes I could find. Similar to what it feels like to live in a tightly packed city, the only visually breathable spaces in this series are found when I looked up or zoomed in.
